Vaishnodevi Yatra Command Centre Opens in May

The SMVDSB held a joint security review meeting in Katra on Friday to evaluate operational readiness and security strategies for a safe pilgrimage. Garg highlighted the importance of making the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) functional by the first week of May. This AI-powered centre will facilitate real-time monitoring through 700 CCTV cameras with advanced features like gesture and face recognition.

Security Measures and Technology Integration

The ICCC is anticipated to enhance coordination among security agencies and enable quick emergency responses. The meeting underscored the necessity of intelligence sharing and seamless agency coordination. Strategies were discussed to verify the credentials of porters and pony handlers to prevent impersonation and ensure only authorised service providers operate.

Discussions also focused on area domination, drone surveillance, and deploying additional security personnel. Emphasis was placed on using modern technology such as AI-powered surveillance and data analytics to anticipate threats and maintain high-security standards. Garg reiterated the shrine board's dedication to robust security infrastructure, including newly installed equipment like X-Ray baggage scanners, metal detectors, under-vehicle search mirrors, and geo-fencing technology.

Ensuring Compliance with Security Protocols

The CEO stressed strict adherence to security protocols with a zero-tolerance approach towards unauthorised activities. SSP Reasi informed that FIRs have been filed against illegal service providers, with continuous checks being conducted. The meeting also reviewed Katra town's security arrangements, focusing on improving surveillance, intelligence inputs, and access control to ensure a secure environment for all pilgrims.

The importance of leveraging modern technology was highlighted during the discussions. The use of AI-powered surveillance systems and data analytics is seen as crucial in preempting potential threats. This approach aims to maintain high-security standards at all times.

In line with directions from the Chairman, Garg emphasised the shrine board's commitment to enhancing security infrastructure. This includes utilising newly installed equipment such as X-Ray baggage scanners, metal detectors, under-vehicle search mirrors, and geo-fencing technology.

The meeting concluded with a focus on ensuring that all security measures are in place before the command centre becomes operational in May. Continuous efforts are being made to improve surveillance capabilities and ensure seamless coordination among various agencies involved in maintaining security at the shrine.
