'Collective Failure Of System': Rahul Gandhi Reacts To Delhi Coaching Centre Deaths

Reacting to the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants who drowned in the flooded basement of their coaching institute in Delhi, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, expressed his condolences and criticised the systemic failures leading to such incidents.

"The common citizen is paying the price of unsafe construction, poor town planning, and irresponsibility of institutions at every level by losing his life," Gandhi stated.

He took to X to offer his condolences to the departed youths.

He said, "The death of competitive students due to waterlogging in the basement of a building in Delhi is very unfortunate. A few days ago, a student died due to electric shock during the rains. I express my heartfelt condolences to all the bereaved families."

Gandhi blamed these deaths to the shortcomings of public infrastructure, saying, "This collapse of infrastructure is a collective failure of the system."

Emphasising the responsibility of the government, he added, "A safe and comfortable life is the right of every citizen and the responsibility of the governments."

The incident saw around 30 students in the coaching center, with 12 to 14 rescued and taken to the hospital, while others managed to escape.

BJP labeled the incident a "murder" and called on the AAP-led Delhi government to take responsibility.

In response, AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak pointed fingers at the BJP, stating that the incident occurred because BJP had been in power in the city's municipal body for 15 years before Kejriwal government took over.
