CM Arvind Kejriwal Issues Suspension Order Of Delhi Officer Accused Of Rape

The senior officer of the Delhi government's Woman and Child Development Department who has been booked for raping and impregnating his friend's daughter has been suspended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. The Delhi CM ordered the suspension and has also asked the Chief Secretary to submit the report by 5 PM today.

This comes just after the brutal act of the senior officer raping his friend's daughter came to the limelight. The officer and his wife are booked on charges of rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and giving the victim medicines to terminate the pregnancy.

The 17-year-old rape victim alleged that the senior officer used to rape her for months between 2020 and 2021 and that his wife gave her abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy.

The incident came into the limelight when the victim fell sick and her mother took her to the doctor who found that the child was abused for months by the officer and his family.

According to the police, the girl lost her father in 2020 post which the accused offered to take her to his home and take care of her to which her mother gave her nod as they were good family friends. The accused is a resident of North Delhi and lives with his wife and son.

"She was raped for months and got pregnant sometime in 2021. When the accused found out, he told his wife. The wife then ordered abortion pills and terminated the child's pregnancy. As per the girl's family, she fell sick later and was taken back by her mother. The mother later took her to doctors and specialists who found that the child was abused for months by the officer and his family," a senior officer was quoted as saying.

The victim's mother asked for police and child welfare authorities' help just after she came to know about the entire situation.
