CLAT 2025: Question Paper Format Unveiled – Know The Marks Distribution And Syllabus

Registrations for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 are now open. Those interested in applying for undergraduate or postgraduate law programmes can submit their applications online through the official CLAT website. The deadline for application submission is October 22, and the examination is scheduled for December 1.

CLAT serves as a national-level entrance exam for law aspirants, offering admission to 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and numerous other participating institutions across India.

CLAT 2025 Exam Pattern For Undergraduate Courses

The undergraduate test will feature 120 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. Candidates will have two hours to complete the exam, with a penalty of 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer. The exam covers five subject areas with varying weightage.

The English Language section will contain between 22 and 26 questions, accounting for about 20 per cent of the paper. Current Affairs, including General Knowledge, will have 28 to 32 questions, making up approximately 25 per cent of the total. Legal Reasoning also comprises 28 to 32 questions, representing another 25 per cent of the exam.

CLAT 2025 Exam Pattern For Postgraduate Courses

Postgraduate candidates will face an exam structure similar to that of undergraduates, with 120 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each. A negative marking of 0.25 marks applies to incorrect answers. The test duration is two hours and includes topics like Constitutional Law and other significant legal subjects such as Jurisprudence and Criminal Law.

The Logical Reasoning section will include between 22 and 26 questions, contributing around 20 per cent to the overall score. Quantitative Techniques will consist of 10 to 14 questions, which account for roughly 10 per cent of the paper.

Aspirants are encouraged to complete their registrations well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute complications.
