China Ready to Welcome More Indian Firms into Its Market Amid Ongoing Border Tensions
China is eager to invite more Indian businesses into its market, according to Chinese ambassador Xu Feihong. He expressed hope that India will offer a favourable business environment for Chinese companies. Speaking at an event, Xu urged India to take steps to resume direct flights and visas for Chinese citizens. His comments come amid ongoing border tensions in eastern Ladakh.

India insists that normal relations with China depend on peace along the border. The two nations should understand each other's development and strategic goals, Xu stated. He emphasised the importance of guiding bilateral relations positively and respecting each other's core interests and major concerns.
Trade and Cooperation
The ambassador highlighted the need for dialogue to manage differences and promote cooperation across various sectors. He stressed that collaboration should not be hindered by isolated incidents. Although he did not directly mention the military standoff in eastern Ladakh, his remarks were seen in that context.
Following the border dispute, India has increased scrutiny of Chinese companies operating within its borders. Xu welcomed Indian goods and businesses to China, hoping for a conducive business climate for Chinese enterprises in India.
Resuming Travel and Exchanges
Xu expressed China's willingness to enhance exchanges with India in science, technology, education, culture, and tourism. He also called for positive actions from India to restart direct flights and ease visa processes for Chinese nationals.
China has emerged as India's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching 136.2 billion USD last year. Since then, the Chinese Embassy and Consulates-General in India have issued over 400,000 visas to Indians, facilitating visits for various exchanges and cooperation.
The ambassador's remarks underline the importance of maintaining a stable relationship between the two countries despite existing challenges. Both nations are encouraged to work together towards mutual growth while addressing their respective concerns.
