China see red over Indian Defence Minister's visit to Arunachal Pradesh

In line with its controversial stand on Arunachal Pradesh, China has objected to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's visit to Arunachal Pradesh.

Sitharaman on Sunday had visited forward army posts in Arunachal Pradesh. Reacting to her visit Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying reportedly stated "There is a dispute in the eastern section of the Indian-China boundary" adding that the visit is not conducive for the peace and tranquility in the region.

Incidentally the Indian Defence Minister had visited the forward army posts in the Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh.

She was accompanied by General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Command Lt. Gen. Abhay Krishna and other front rung army officers.

The Minister who had arrived on a two day visit of the State on Saturday also interacted with the jawans and lauded their dedication in service in such remote areas.

The Minister also visited the air force base in Chabua in Tinsukhia district of Assam. Minister Sitharaman took stock of the operational preparedness and infrastructure development in the forward bases she visited.

Interestingly Minister Sitharaman had visited Nathula border in Sikkim in the first week of October and had even interacted with the Chinese soldiers. However this visit had not invited flak from China.

Interestingly though China considers Sikkim as a part of India it claims Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of Chinese Territory.

China had also objected to the visit of the Tibetan spiritual leader HH the Dalai Lama's week long visit to Arunachal Pradesh in April this year and even threatened to take "necessary measures." China had lodged a protest with Indian Ambassador Vijay Gokhale in Beijing over Dalai Lama's visit.
