Uttarakhand Police Arrest Four in Child Trafficking Case, Rescuing Two-Year-Old Boy

Uttarakhand Police have dismantled a child trafficking network, arresting four individuals, including a woman, and rescuing a two-year-old boy. This operation followed a complaint by Reena from Yamuna Colony about the abduction of her sons, Akash, aged 5, and Vikas, aged 2. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh provided these details.

Uttarakhand Police Rescue Toddler from Traffickers

When the kidnappers learned of the police investigation, they left Akash at the Yamuna Colony gate. It was discovered that Reena's cousin, Rakesh, aged 52, who often visited her home, was seen dropping Akash off on January 2. Both Rakesh and Reena are originally from Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh.

Investigation Uncovers Key Connections

The police discovered Rakesh's close relationship with Rahul, a colleague at the Ordnance Factory. Their mobile phones were monitored as part of the investigation. It was revealed that Rahul's daughter Tania, aged 20, was also involved in hiding the two brothers. When they became aware of the police complaint, they instructed Rakesh to return Akash to the colony gate before fleeing to Amroha in Uttar Pradesh.

Authorities apprehended Rakesh and Tania while Rahul remained at large. During questioning, the suspects confessed to selling Vikas to Priyanka, aged 22, and Santy, aged 25, in Dhampur for Rs 2 lakh. Priyanka and Santy were subsequently arrested.

Rescue Operation and Further Revelations

The duo admitted to selling Vikas to a family residing in Sarkathal Shivala in Dhampur. The police approached this family and successfully rescued the child. During interrogation, Rakesh also confessed to selling two of his own children. The police are continuing their investigation into these claims.

The Senior Superintendent of Police has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for the team responsible for recovering the child. This case highlights ongoing efforts to combat child trafficking in the region.
