Chhattisgarh: Surrendered Naxal killed by Maoists

Raipur, Mar 18: Naxals allegedly killed one of their former colleagues who had surrendered before the police in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Kanker district on the suspicion that he was acting as a police informer.

Manau Ram (38) who had surrendered in 2014, was shot dead by Maoists yesterday at his village Mulle under Amabeda police station limits, a senior police official told PTI today.

The village is located around 300 km away from the state capital. He was dragged outside his house before being shot, police said, adding that the Naxals suspected that he was a police informer.

On getting information about the incident, security forces were sent to the spot, though no one from the village has lodged a complaint.

On March 1, another villager had been shot dead by Naxals after branding him as police informer at Tiralgarh village in the district.
