Chhattisgarh polls: Naxals threaten villagers not to vote

Posters and hoardings urging people not to vote are visible at the Naxal stronghold of Bastar. Some of them also indicate that the fingers of voters with smearing on their fingers would be chopped off.
The past elections, as compared to this was more peaceful as the Naxals had only asked the people to boycott the polls, but this time things were different. The two-phased elections to 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly will be held on November 11 and 19. 27,000 paramilitary personnel have already been deployed for peaceful elections. In addition to this, 40,000 more have been sent.
The CPI(Maoist) aims to get rid of the present democratic structure with violence and bring in the 'New Democratic Revolution'.
