Chennai: DMK chief Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi hospitalised

fell unconscious at home and was rushed to hospital in Chennai on Sunday, Feb 3. Kanimozhi, the DMK's Rajya Sabha MP, was rushed to a private hospital in Alwarpet.

Initially, neither Kanimozhi's family nor DMK officials confirmed news of the hospitalisation. However, later the DMK supremo visited his daughter in the hospital and confirmed the news.

According to an official statement, Kanimozhi was hospitalised for "tiredness and exhaustion". She also will be discharged in a couple of days. Kanimozhi's half brother MK Stalin along with many other DMK leaders -- R Durai Murugan, TKS Elangovan and S Jagathratchagan also visited the hospital and enquired about the MP's health.

Meanwhile, Saravanan, Kanimozhi's personal assistant, was quoted as saying, "She was working hard for the past three days, preparing for a debate in the Rajya Sabha on reservation. She was also working on her speech for the party's conference in Tiruchi from Feb 15-16."

"She was exhausted due to the hard work. She was working late on Saturday and the work stretched till the early hours of Sunday. She was exhausted. That's all. There is nothing to worry about as she will be all right soon," he added.
