Threat over Independence Day: Suspicious man arrested in Chennai airport
Chennai, Aug 16: Chennai Police arrested a suspicious man from airport on Saturday, Aug 15. The man has been arrested from the domestic terminal of the airport.
Police arrested him as he was found roaming inside the airport without any valid ticket when the airport was on a high alert on Independence Day.

Air India officials suspected the man, who claimed to have cancelled his ticket to Hyderabad as his father met with an accident. However, he failed to show the cancelled ticket.
Later he claimed that he came to the airport to see off his wife and daughter who were flying to Hyderabad.
He was detained when he tried to leave through the entrance of the departure after Air India officials found no booking was made in his name at all.
Meanwhile, his wife spoke to police officials through phone and informed the cops that he did not have any plan to fly along with them.
After interrogating the man for sometime, Air India officials handed him over to security authorities to probe him for 'breach of security and fraud'.
Speaking about the incident, one senior Air India official was quoted as saying, "The man had entered the airport presenting a cancelled online ticket to see off his family."
"Presently CISF officials at the entry gate cannot verify if the ticket is a valid one or otherwise. We are trying to build a system to fix this," he added.
