Chandrayaan-3: Know Major Update About India's Third Lunar Mission
All eyes would be on Chandrayaan 3, India's third lunar mission set to be launched from Sriharikota on 14 July, with the lander expected to soft-land on the surface of the Moon on August 23 or 24.
Chandrayaan 3 aims "to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface.

To date, only three countries have successfully soft-landed a craft on the moon, the governments of the Soviet Union, the United States and China.
There is a lot of excitement across the country about the launch of Chandrayaan-3, particularly because Chandrayaan-2 Mission could not yield the desired results because of a lapse just about 13 minutes after Spacecraft began its descent on September 6, 2019. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was personally present at Sriharikota to witness the event.
Built at a cost of around Rs 615 crore, Chandrayaan-3 mission will carry scientific instruments to the moon in order to study its thermophysical properties, lunar seismicity, lunar surface plasma environment, and elemental composition.
Comparatively, Prabhas and Kriti Sanon's 'Adipurush' is made at a cost of Rs 500, which is only Rs 115 crore lesser than the Chandrayaan-3 mission.

India's second Moon mission, Chandrayaan-2 cost less than half of the budget of Hollywood blockbuster "Avengers Endgame".
In 2008, the Chandrayaan-1, India's first unmanned Moon mission, which cost Rs 541 crore roughly ($79 million), was launched to map the Moon's surface and look for precious metals.
Chandrayaan-1 operated for 312 days as opposed to the intended two years; however, the mission achieved most of its scientific objectives including detecting the presence of Lunar water.
