Chandigarh Police Issues Advisory Ahead of India vs Australia Cricket World Cup Final Match

Chandigarh Police has issued a public advisory banning bursting of firecrackers and playing loud music on roads on November 19 in view of the upcoming Cricket World Cup final match between India and Australia.

Chandigarh, November 17: In light of the upcoming ODI World Cup final match between India and Australia scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on November 19, the Chandigarh Police has issued a public advisory, urging the public to refrain from certain activities to maintain law and order in the city.

Ban on Bursting Firecrackers and Playing Loud Music

The advisory specifically prohibits the bursting of firecrackers and playing loud music on roads. The police have observed that after major sports events, people often celebrate by engaging in such activities, which can lead to traffic disruptions and noise pollution.

Gathering Restrictions and Sound Amplifier Regulations

To prevent any potential law and order issues, the Chandigarh Police have also banned the gathering of five or more persons at any public place without prior permission. Additionally, playing loud music on sound amplifiers such as DJs, dhols, or drums in public places after 10 pm is strictly prohibited under the Noise Pollution Regulation & Control Rules, 2000.

Public Screening and Procession Guidelines

Public screening of the cricket match in open spaces is not permitted without prior permission from the concerned authorities. Furthermore, no processions, in any form, will be allowed before, during, or after the match. The police have warned that any acts of hooliganism will be dealt with strictly.

Penal Action for Violations

The Chandigarh Police have stated that any violation of the aforementioned guidelines will result in strict penal action under the relevant provisions of the law. Offenders will be prosecuted to ensure compliance and maintain public order during the cricket match.
