Centre Vs States: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala Come Together To Protest Over Unfair Allocation Of Funds

Centre Vs States: To protest against the Narendra Modi government over discrimination in the federal funds allocated to states, three southern states - Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu- have joined hands to raise the flag. According to the reports, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar, who have already staged a protest against the Center will now be joined by MPs and MLAs from Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The reports said Kerala Chief Minister Pinaryai Vijayan and members of his Left Front government, along with the Tamil Nadu ministers will join CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar near the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament premises today to protest against the central government.

All three southern state governments have claimed that the Centre is deliberately withholding state funds and has reduced their share of tax revenue.

Talking to the media, Congress' DK Shivakumar said Karnataka ranks second in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection, but still, the Central government is doing injustice to his state.

"The protest will be led by CM (Siddaramaiah). I have informed all my MLAs and MLCs to be there (in Delhi) by the night of February 6. On the morning of Feb 7, wherever they (authorities) permit us (we will stage a protest). We demand that you (Centre) have not given us justice, you (Centre) have not given us (funds) for drought," says Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.

Hitting back at the Karnataka Congress, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said "There's no mention of a grant for Karnataka in Final FC report. Leave Karnataka, no special grant has been recommended for any state."
