Government Team to Evaluate Flood Damage in Tripura, Says CM
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that the central government will dispatch a team to evaluate the flood damage in the state. The floods have claimed at least 26 lives and affected approximately 17 lakh people, with 1.37 lakh rendered homeless, according to officials.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured Saha that a central team would soon visit the flood-affected areas. "The central team will physically visit the flood-hit areas," Saha stated during a Janmashtami event. He added that the state government would provide an accurate account of the devastation when the team arrives.
Financial Aid from Other States
Saha expressed gratitude to Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and UP CM Yogi Adityanath for their financial support. "Yogi Adityanath has spoken to me and donated Rs 10 crore for restoration works in flood-affected areas," he said. Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh government contributed Rs 20 crore for restoration efforts.
The Chief Minister praised the assistance from other states, noting that while the Centre will help Tripura, it is commendable how other states are also offering support. This collective effort highlights the solidarity among states during challenging times.
Damage Assessment and Relief Efforts
Revenue Secretary Brijesh Pandey mentioned that all district magistrates have been instructed to assess the flood damage. The floods have caused significant destruction to infrastructure, including roads, buildings, power lines, embankments, and farmlands.
Officials estimate that the total damage amounts to around Rs 15,000 crore. Despite water levels receding in major rivers, approximately 70,000 people remain in 471 relief camps across the state.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the state government is committed to presenting a true picture of the flood's impact when the central team arrives. This assessment will be crucial for securing necessary aid and support for rebuilding efforts.
The coordinated response from both the central government and other states underscores a unified approach to disaster management. This collaboration aims to ensure that affected communities receive timely assistance and resources for recovery.
The ongoing relief efforts are focused on providing immediate support to those displaced by the floods. Authorities are working tirelessly to restore normalcy and rebuild essential infrastructure in the affected regions.
The central team's visit will play a pivotal role in assessing the full extent of the damage and determining the required aid. This evaluation will help streamline relief operations and allocate resources effectively.
The state's resilience and collective efforts from various quarters highlight a robust response mechanism in times of crisis. The support from different states showcases a spirit of unity and cooperation in addressing natural disasters.
