Central Team To Visit Telangana Tomorrow For Taking Stock Of Damage Due To Floods, Rains

The dispatch of the Central team to Telangana comes on the instructions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as stated by Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy. Tragically, at least 18 people have lost their lives in various rain-related incidents due to the heavy downpour that hit the state during the past week.

During his visit to rain-affected areas in the state, including Moranchapally village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, Kishan Reddy urged the Telangana government to utilize the funds available under the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for carrying out flood relief activities. He assured compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families who lost their loved ones in the floods and ordered officials to expedite efforts in locating the missing individuals.

Relief work has gained momentum as rainfall subsided in many parts of the state on Saturday. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao supervised the relief operations during the day, coordinating with ministers and Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari.

Considering the urgency of the situation, the Central team will visit Telangana from July 31. After assessing the damage during the IMCT's visit and upon receiving the state government's detailed memorandum, the Central team may visit Telangana again for further evaluation.

The heavy rains over the past week caused flooding in low-lying areas and significant damage to agricultural fields across several places in the state. The Meteorological Center has forecasted heavy rainfall at isolated locations in various districts of Telangana from 8.30 AM on August 1 to 8.30 AM on August 2.
