CCTV Video: Tragic School Bus Accident In Kerala's Kannur Claims Life Of Class 5 Student

A tragic accident occurred in Kerala's Kannur when a school bus overturned, resulting in the death of a Class 5 student. The incident happened on Wednesday evening near Valakkai Bridge. The bus, belonging to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, was carrying 15 students when it lost control on a slope and flipped over.

The deceased student was identified as Nedhya S Rajesh. She was thrown out of the bus during the accident and tragically crushed under its wheels. Reports suggest that brake failure might have caused the accident, though police are still investigating the incident.

Accident Details and Investigation

The accident took place around 4 pm while the students were being dropped home. A total of 14 students sustained injuries and were promptly taken to Taliparamba Taluk Hospital by local residents for medical attention. The body of the 11-year-old girl was moved to Government Medical College at Pariyaram.

Authorities have charged the driver under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These include Section 281 for rash driving, Section 125(A) for endangering human life through negligence, and Section 106(1) for causing death by negligence.

Locals have voiced concerns about the road's "unscientific design," suggesting it may have contributed to the accident. This aspect is likely to be considered in ongoing investigations as authorities seek to understand all factors involved.
