Schools Must Upload Documents, Teacher Details On Functional Websites: CBSE’s Latest Directive
In an effort to enhance transparency and accessibility, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has mandated all its affiliated schools to create functional websites. This directive requires the schools to prominently feature details about their teaching staff, specifically their qualifications, and to ensure all prescribed information and documents are readily available online, Times of India reported.
Upload Details
This move is aimed at fostering a more open and informed environment for stakeholders, particularly parents and students, who seek comprehensive details about educational institutions.

Despite previous directives from the CBSE, compliance has been lacking among many schools. A significant number of these institutions either have no online presence or have websites that fail to meet the stipulated requirements. Issues range from incomplete uploads of necessary information and documents to non-functional links and poorly displayed icons or links on the website homepages.
The lack of adherence to these directives undermines the objective of ensuring accountability and easy access to critical information.
CBSE Statement
The official notice from the CBSE emphasized, "The board has issued directions to all affiliated schools to develop their own individual website and shall upload details of teachers with qualifications as well as prescribed information and documents as part of Mandatory Public Disclosure." This initiative underscores the importance of digital presence and the need for schools to leverage technology to provide key information.
Notably, the notice highlighted the ongoing issue with compliance, stating, "In spite of the repeated directions by the board, it has been observed that many affiliated schools still do not have a functional website. Besides, some schools have a school website but have either not uploaded or partially uploaded the desired information and documents, under Mandatory Public Disclosure." This reflects a gap between the board's directives and the action taken by the schools.
In conclusion, the CBSE is offering one final chance for all affiliated schools to align with its directives. These schools are instructed to update their websites and ensure all required information is fully and accurately displayed within 30 days from the circular's publication.
