CBSE Class 10 Board Exams To Be Held Twice A Year Starting 2026
Starting in 2026, students taking the CBSE Class 10 board exams will have the option to sit for the exams twice annually. This change was confirmed by Sanyam Bhardwaj, the CBSE Examination Controller. It marks a notable shift in how these exams are conducted.
The new exam format requires all students to participate in the first session. The second session is optional, allowing students to improve their scores if desired. The better score from either session will be recorded on the final mark sheet.

Exam Schedule and Structure
The board exams will occur in two phases: February 17 to March 6 for the first phase, and May 5 to May 20 for the second phase. Internal assessments and practical exams will continue to be held once a year under this new system.
This dual-exam approach aims to alleviate stress associated with a single annual exam. It provides students with more flexibility in choosing when they feel best prepared to take their exams.
By offering two opportunities, students can manage their time and preparation more effectively. This change is expected to benefit those who may need additional time or wish to improve their initial performance.
