CBI Probes RG Kar Hospital Doctor in Ongoing Rape-Murder Investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its inquiry into the alleged rape and murder of a medical professional at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. On Tuesday, they questioned a forensic department doctor, Dr. Apurba Biswas, for the second time. The investigation focuses on why the post-mortem was conducted after sunset, which is against standard procedures.

CBI Questions RG Kar Hospital Doctor

Dr. Biswas had previously been interrogated by the CBI on Monday. The agency sought clarification on the urgency in collecting samples from the seminar hall where the medic's body was discovered on August 9. His responses were recorded, and further questioning may be required if necessary, according to a CBI officer.

Financial Irregularities Under Scrutiny

In addition to the murder investigation, the CBI is also examining alleged financial misconduct at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Dr. Sanjay Vashisth, the former medical superintendent and vice principal (MSVP), was questioned regarding these irregularities. The probe into both cases is being conducted under separate orders from the Calcutta High Court.

On Tuesday afternoon, Saptarshi Chatterjee, the current MSVP of RG Kar Hospital, visited the CBI office. He submitted several documents related to the financial discrepancies at the medical facility. This submission is part of the ongoing investigation into financial mismanagement at the hospital.

The CBI's dual investigations aim to uncover both the circumstances surrounding the medic's death and any potential financial wrongdoing within the hospital administration. The agency continues to gather evidence and statements to build a comprehensive understanding of both cases.
