Mumbai, Feb 17: The supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI yesterday stated in details former INX Media Chief Peter Mukerjea's involvement in the murder conspiracy of Sheena Bora, along with his wife Indrani Mukerjea.
The chargesheet filed before the Esplanade court in Mumbai also said that the couple disapproved of Sheena's relationship with Rahul, Peter's son.
A copy of the chargesheet was handed over to Peter, who is in jail right now and present during the hearing. He said,"I will study the chargesheet in jail, but I stand by what I said at the time of arrest, that I have nothing to do with the case and was not aware of the conspiracy."
The agency filed the chargesheet within 3 months under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) so that Mukerjea is not able to file a bail plea. The other accused named in the chargesheet include Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna and former driver Shyam Rai.
According to the document, the coupls had hatched the plan of killing Sheena in 2009, but executed it only when Sheena sent an email to a friend stating her true relationship with Indrani and how the later treated her. Sheena had also alleged that she was not a good mother and had also tried to pull strings so that Sheena lost her job at Reliance.
Interestingly, the couple had also planned the murder of Sheena's brother Mekhail, owing to the fact that Indrani was not comfortable about their presence. It is also said that the siblings had also tried extorting money out of Indrani.
The calls records between the couple (from April 24 to 25, 2012) reveal how the plan was executed. While Peter stayed back in the UK, Indrani returned to India in April 2012. Peter came back a day after the murder and both of them maintained the story that Sheena had settled down in the US with a different boy, if they were confronted by Rahul.
Close to 32 witnesses have been mentioned, among whom the statements of the JCP (Law and Order), Mumbai, Deven Bharti and Inspector Alaakhmoore, the then in charge of the Anti Extortion Cell of the Mumbai, have been recorded.
