On Sunday, the owner of a private school in Gujarat's Godhra district was taken into custody by the CBI, making it the sixth arrest in the case. Dixit Patel, the owner of Jay Jalaram School near Godhra in Panchmahal district, was apprehended for allegedly soliciting between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh from candidates with promises to enhance their examination scores.

It was alleged by the Gujarat Police that Dixit Patel had instructed candidates to leave questions unanswered if they did not know the answers. The suspects allegedly planned to fill out the answer sheets on behalf of 27 students, each charged ₹10 lahks after the exam was completed, as reported by Hindustan Times.

On June 29, the CBI arrested Jamaluddin Ansari, a marketing professional with a Hindi media organization, from Hazaribagh. This arrest followed the detention of Oasis School's principal Ehsanul Haque and vice principal Imtiaz Alam. Haque had been appointed the city coordinator by the National Testing Agency for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2024), as stated by the officials.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the NEET-UG examination on May 5, has faced criticism over alleged irregularities, prompting a series of protests across the country. Demonstrators and political parties have demanded the disbandment of the NTA, as per media reports.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the alleged NEET-UG irregularities. "The President mentioned the paper leak in her speech. I expect the entire house to rise above politics and discuss the issue. Unfortunately, it's being politicized, which is concerning for the country's future," the prime minister said in response to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha.
