Caught On Camera: E-Rickshaw Driver Spun Around On Car Bonnet After Crash

Video of a jeep hitting an e-rickshaw in Uttar Pradesh and dragging the injured driver on its bonnet has spread widely online, raising concern over highway safety. The clip, shot by witnesses in Rampur district, shows bystanders shouting and rushing in to stop the vehicle.

The collision took place on the highway in Bilaspur, along Rampur Road, when a jeep driven by Manpreet crashed into an oncoming e-rickshaw. The impact overturned the smaller vehicle and injured the driver, Shabbu, who started bleeding from the nose after the fall.

According to eyewitnesses, Manpreet tried to escape after the crash. Shabbu then moved in front of the jeep to block the way. Instead of stopping, the jeep driver drove ahead, and Shabbu was pushed onto the bonnet and carried for a short distance.

Bystanders began shouting at the jeep driver on Rampur Road as the vehicle kept moving with Shabbu on the bonnet. Witnesses said the jeep turned while the injured driver was still clinging on. The vehicle finally stopped only after people surrounded it and intervened, preventing further harm.

Anurag Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rampur, said, "A jeep driver named Manpreet collided with an e-rickshaw driver named Shabbu. The e-rickshaw driver ended up on the jeep bonnet while the jeep tried to flee. Bystanders intervened and stopped the driver." Singh further stated, "Police arrested Manpreet, issued a challan under Section 151, and seized the jeep. An FIR has been registered, and further legal proceedings are ongoing."

The case from Bilaspur has drawn attention to risky driving on busy Uttar Pradesh highways and the role of public intervention. Police say legal steps are underway against Manpreet, while the viral videos continue to highlight how quickly the bystanders reacted when Shabbu was dragged.
