Candle Light Vigil Held in Bengaluru to Honour Techie Atul Subhash Following His Suicide
A candlelight vigil took place in Bengaluru to honour Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old tech professional who died by suicide. The event, organised by an NGO and attended by many, aimed to highlight the alleged harassment he faced from his wife and her family. Participants gathered at Eco Space, holding candles and photos of Subhash, while chanting for justice.

Subhash was discovered dead at his Marathahalli home on Monday. His death has sparked calls for action against his wife, Nikita Singhania. Protesters demanded her dismissal from her tech job, arguing that if the roles were reversed, immediate arrests would have occurred. The case has drawn attention to issues faced by men in similar situations.
Allegations and Legal Battles
Sajeet from the NGO Save Indian Family Foundation expressed sorrow over Subhash's death. "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Atul Subhash, who succumbed to the pressures of false cases and judicial harassment. To honor his memory and raise awareness about this injustice, we invited the public to join us for a tribute," he stated.
Narsingh, a close friend of Subhash, shared his own struggles with legal battles involving his wife since 2020. He revealed that he had been separated from his son due to these disputes. "Like Atul, I am also fighting a legal battle. I have seen my son only twice, and once at the police station. I am being asked for five crores to settle the false cases filed against me," Narsingh said.
Details from the Death Note
Subhash left behind a 24-page note describing his emotional turmoil and marital problems. The note mentioned harassment by his wife, her family members, and a judge in Uttar Pradesh. This document was shared with an NGO's WhatsApp group he was part of, highlighting ongoing issues since his 2019 marriage.
The police have filed an abetment of suicide case against Subhash's wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, brother-in-law Anurag, and uncle Sushil. Investigations are underway to uncover more details surrounding Subhash's tragic end.
Subhash's note also detailed how marital discord led to multiple legal cases after their son was born in 2020. These revelations have intensified discussions about the challenges men face in similar circumstances.
The vigil not only served as a tribute but also as a platform to raise awareness about men's rights issues in India. The gathering underscored the need for balanced legal support for all individuals facing domestic disputes.
