Cancel Rahul Gandhi's Passport: Ramdas Athawale On Congress Leader's Controversial Abroad Statement
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has called for the cancellation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's passport. Athawale believes this measure would prevent Gandhi from tarnishing India's image during his international visits. Speaking at a press conference in Palghar, Maharashtra, on 17th September, the Minister of State for Social Justice criticised Gandhi for making statements against reservation policies.
Athawale expressed his disapproval of Gandhi's comments made during a recent trip to the United States. He stated, "Rahul Gandhi visits foreign countries and defames India by making such statements. His passport should be cancelled to stop him from making such remarks." The minister was responding to questions about Gandhi's controversial remarks in the US.

Controversial Remarks Stir Backlash
During his visit to the US, Rahul Gandhi faced significant backlash for his comments on the BJP, Sikh community, and reservation policies. While addressing the Indian diaspora at the University of Texas, he made statements that sparked widespread criticism. The opposition leader's remarks have particularly upset backward communities.
Athawale further commented on Gandhi's stance regarding reservations in India. He noted that when Gandhi talks about ending reservations, it is a serious matter that has caused dissatisfaction among backward communities. The minister emphasised that such statements are not appropriate for someone holding a leadership position in the Lok Sabha.
Future of Congress and Reservations
The Dalit leader also remarked on the future of Congress and reservation policies in India. He asserted that while Congress might eventually cease to exist, reservations will continue to remain an integral part of India's socio-political landscape. Athawale's party, RPI (A), is aligned with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
In addition to his comments on Rahul Gandhi, Athawale addressed concerns about alliances within Indian politics. He mentioned that partnering with NCP leader Ajit Pawar does not harm the prospects of Mahayuti, or the grand alliance. This statement reflects ongoing political dynamics within Maharashtra and beyond.
The controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi's statements highlights ongoing debates over reservation policies and political alliances in India. As discussions continue, leaders like Athawale are vocal about their positions on these critical issues affecting various communities across the nation.
