Can INDIA Bloc Trump BJP In Delhi? Rahul Gandhi Says, 'Kanhaiya Can'

The summer heat is on and so is the political one. Stakes are high in the national capital as the all important battle for Delhi is slated for May 25. It's a heated fight, quite literally, with a severe heatwave gripping the city. However, neither the scorching temperatures nor the humid conditions could deter thousands of supporters who turned up for the India Alliance's rally in North East Delhi's Dilshad Garden in a show of unwavering support for Rahul Gandhi.

At the election meeting in support of party candidate Kanhaiya Kumar, Rahul claimed that the BJP always wanted to change the Constitution.

Addressing the sea of supporters, Gandhi trained his guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking a dig at the PM's recent statement claiming he was "sent by god" and not "born biologically." The former Congress president questioned Modi's assertions, stating, "If somebody comes up to you and says such things, what will you say? You will say forgive me brother, you do your work, let me do mine."

Gandhi didn't spare the PM's supporters, criticising them for praising Modi's divine claims. He referenced the Prime Minister's call for citizens to clap and turn on mobile flashlights during the initial COVID-19 lockdown phases, contrasting it with the grim reality of bodies piling up on the banks of the Ganges.

"When people were taking their last breath outside hospitals, not inside, the Prime Minister - no, not the Prime Minister, but he who was sent by god - was asking people to turn on their mobile phone flashlights," Gandhi said, his words striking a chord with the crowd.

The sweltering conditions did little to dampen the spirits of the supporters, who had gathered from across Delhi and neighbouring areas to catch a glimpse of the India Alliance's top leaders. Volunteers distributed water bottles and set up temporary shelters to provide respite from the scorching sun.

Rahul Gandhi's scathing attack on PM Modi seemed to resonate with the gathering, many of whom expressed their disillusionment with the incumbent government's policies and governance. "We have had enough of this government's empty promises and divisive politics," said Ajay who lives nearby.

"Today, we have come to show our support for the India Alliance, which represents the true spirit of our nation - unity in diversity."

As the rally drew to a close, the crowd dispersed, undeterred by the heat, their spirits buoyed by the hope of change that the India Alliance has promised. With just days left for Delhi to go to the polls, the battle lines have been drawn, and the people of the city seem poised to make their voices heard.
