Calcutta HC calls for a report on Dengue from West Bengal Government
While the Calcutta High Court has asked for a report on Dengue from the State Government, West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has shot a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressing concern over the deaths caused by different vector diseases in the State.

A Raj Bhawan statement on Friday stated that the Governor had come to know about incidents of Dengue, Malaria, Chikunguniya and Scrub Typhus in the State from news reports and other sources.
"I have written to the Chief Minister stating that the Government should take all necessary measures for to combat these diseases affecting many" stated Governor Tripathi talking to media persons.
The opposition parties including the Congress, BJP and the Left Front have launched separate agitations against what they claim to be an attempt by the State Government to hush up the facts and figures relating to the dengue affected and deaths.
The High Court on Friday called for reports from the State Government regarding Dengue, in the form of an affidavit, to be submitted within November 10.
There are multiple PILs in the Calcutta High Court on dengue affected and deaths. All the PILs have prayed for actual figures of dengue deaths and also demanded compensation for the next of kin of the deceased and affected.
Recently Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had claimed that there has been 13 dengue deaths reported from the Government hospitals in West Bengal.
"We have received reports of 27 deaths from private nursing homes, However these deaths have been attributed to malaria, dengue, swine flu and other vector borne diseases. We are verifying these reports" she had stated.
The CM had further stated that there is no need to panic as the death figures are the lowest in the West Bengal compared to other states.
"A report uploaded 15 days ago states that in Gujarat 435 people have died owing to vector borne diseases; Maharashtra 695; Rajasthan 230; UP 165; MP 141; Kerala 111; Assam 87 and Orissa 83" Banerjee had claimed.
She had blamed dengue on the freak weather (untimely rainfall) and conspiracy by some private nursing homes and business houses by spreading panic.
