The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) have won three seats each in the bypolls for seven assembly seats across six states, while the United Democratic Front (UDF) bagged one seat.
The counting of votes for the bypolls, which were held on Tuesday, began at 8 am on Friday.
In Tripura, the BJP won the Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats, while the TMC won the Dhupguri seat.
In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP won the Ghosi seat, while the Samajwadi Party won the Bageshwar seat.
In Kerala, the UDF candidate Chandy Oommen won the Puthuppally seat.
In West Bengal, the TMC won the Dhupguri seat.
In Jharkhand, the BJP won the Dumri seat.
The bypoll results are seen as a test for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc against the BJP-led NDA ahead of the five state assembly elections scheduled later this year and the crucial Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
