Bumble Date Robbery: Man Allegedly Drugged and Looted in Gurugram
A man in Gurugram was allegedly drugged and robbed by a woman he met on the dating app Bumble. The woman decamped with his mobile phone, gold jewellery, and drained his bank accounts of Rs 1.78 lakh.
In a shocking incident reported from Gurugram, a man was allegedly drugged and robbed by a woman he met through the popular online dating app Bumble. The victim, Rohit Gupta, claimed that his date made off with his mobile phone, gold jewellery and even drained his bank accounts to the tune of Rs 1.78 lakh.

The crime occurred in Gupta's residence located in DLF Phase 4. According to Gupta's account given to the police on October 11th, he had been interacting with a woman named Sakshi alias Payal via Bumble. She introduced herself as a Delhi resident currently staying with her aunt in Gurugram.
Deceptive Date
Gupta narrated that on October 1st, Sakshi expressed her desire to meet him personally. He said she called him around 10 PM asking him to pick her up from near Dockyard Bar situated in Sector 47. After picking her up, they bought some liquor from a nearby shop before returning to his house.
A Sinister Turn
Once at his home, Sakshi asked Gupta to fetch ice from the kitchen while she stayed behind in the living room. It was during this brief absence that she allegedly spiked his drink with an unknown drug. The potency of the drug was such that it knocked out Gupta until the morning of October 3rd.
The Shocking Discovery
When he finally regained consciousness two days later, he discovered both Sakshi and several of his belongings missing - including an iPhone Pro 14 device, gold chain and Rs 10k cash along with credit and debit cards which were later used for unauthorized transactions amounting to Rs 1.78 Lakh.
Pursuit Of Justice
Following Gupta's complaint, the police have registered a case against Sakshi at Sector 29 Police Station on Tuesday. However, she remains elusive and is yet to be apprehended by the authorities.
This incident underscores the potential dangers of online dating platforms where users can easily fall prey to such fraudulent activities. It serves as a reminder for individuals to exercise caution while engaging with strangers met through these platforms and not let their guard down even when they are in familiar surroundings like their own homes.
In conclusion, while digital technologies have undoubtedly made it easier for people to connect and interact across distances, they also bring along inherent risks that one must be mindful of. The law enforcement agencies are doing their part by investigating such cases diligently but it is equally important for citizens to stay alert and safeguard themselves from becoming victims of cyber crime.
