Building Collapses In Delhi's Welcome Area, 2 Workers Die, 1 Critically injured

Two workers lost their lives and one got critically injured on Thursday morning after a two-storey old construction building collapsed in Delhi, said reports. The incident happened at around 2:16 am in Welcome's Kabir Nagar area, which terrified everyone. The Police has identified the deceased workers as Arshad (30) and Tauhid (20), while the injured worker was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital.

Shedding light on the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police for North East Delhi, Joy Tirkey, said after being informed police reached the spot quickly and informed ambulances and other relief teams about the building collapse. The top cop said three workers were buried under the debris and were brought out with the help of firefighters, out of which, two workers, Arshad and Tauhid, were declared dead at GTB Hospital.

"The third worker, Rehan, is being treated and his condition is critical," DCP added.

Videos from the incident site are doing round the internet, which shows, the relief team workers trying to move the debris and rescue workers who were trapped.

The reports said that the first floor of the building was vacant at the time of the incident, while work at a jeans factor was going on at the ground floor.

The police has lodged a complaint against the owner of the building, identified as Shahid, who is currently on the run and police is making efforts to locate him. The policeman added that legal action will be taken against the owner of the building and justice will be served to the families of the deceased workers.
