BSP Supremo Mayawati's Nephew Akash Anand, 4 Others Booked For Violating Model Code Of Conduct
BSP leader Mayawati's nephew, Akash Anand, along with four others, faced allegations of breaching the Model Code of Conduct during a recent political rally, as per police reports. The authorities took action after noticing Anand's speech during the rally earlier that day.
Anand's speech targeted the government, labeling it as oppressive and comparing it to the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. He also highlighted concerns about safety, referencing a report on kidnapping incidents in the state and accusing the government of failing to protect women and children. Additionally, he accused the BJP of corruption, alleging they unlawfully obtained funds through electoral bonds.

The case was filed against Anand, who serves as BSP's national coordinator, along with party candidates Mahendra Yadav, Shyam Awasthi, and Akshay Kalra, as well as the rally organizer Vikas Rajvanshi. Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra outlined the charges, including sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Representation of the People Act, relating to electoral influence, imputation prejudicial to national integration, disobedience of public servant orders, and promoting enmity between classes in connection with elections.
Mishra emphasized that Anand's speech was deemed to incite violence and contained unparliamentary language, thereby violating the Model Code of Conduct.
Sitapur is scheduled to participate in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha polls on May 13.
