According to the information shared by the police, a 32-year-old priest, identified as Manoj Kumar, was missing for the last six days, his body has been recovered from the bushes. The deceased's eyes were gouged out and multiple injuries have been found on his private parts as well, police said. As per the locals, the priest was last seen on Monday night when he left for home from the Shiva temple in Danapur village.
The brutal killing of Manoj Kumar sparked a scuffle between the locals and the police in Gopalganj, in which, two police officials suffered minor injuries. Reports said deceased Manoj's brother Ashok Kumar Shah, a member of Bihar BJP, provoked people to lock horns with the police accusing the investigating authority of negligence in the case. The clash led to a tense situation in the area.

According to the reports, the police had to fire multiple rounds in the air to take over the situation.
Pranjal, Sub Divisional Police Officer in Gopalganj Sadar, said the situation is under control, however, a police unit has been deployed in the village to avoid any mishappening.
"The highway has been cleared now. People had thrown stones at the police officials. In this case, an FIR will be registered, and further action will be taken," he said.
Suresh Shah, another brother of the deceased, said the family assumed that Manoj had gone out somewhere and would return but he never returned.
"Some people from the district administration came and assured us that an investigation would be done soon. But after six days, my brother's body was found. We don't know how and why the murder took place," Suresh Shah said.
