BRS leader peddles fake news, claims 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway reduced to 6

In fact, the Expressway consists of a 6-lane main carriageway and 4 lanes (2 on each side of the carriage) to cater to the needs of the villages.

Bengaluru, Feb 12: Bharat Rashtriya Samiti (BRS) leader Y Sathish Reddy peddled fake news after he falsely claimed that the 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway had been reduced to 6 lanes.

Taking to Twitter, YSR that the reduction in lanes was done by the Centre government to receive a 40% commission (kickback) from the construction of the project.

"So, 10-lane expressway turned into a 6-lane after removing 40% commission? #40PercentSarkar," he tweeted.

In another tweet, Y Sathish Reddy also questioned the integrity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the latter endorsed the so-called '40% commission' scheme.

"PM Modi ji also endorsed this 40%?," he asked in a tweet.

In fact, the Expressway consists of a 6-lane main carriageway and 4 lanes (2 on each side of the carriage) to cater to the needs of the villages.

On Jan 5, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari listed the specific utility of the lanes.

"The NH stretch of 117 Km between Bengaluru and Mysuru is being developed to a 10-Lane configuration with a total cost of Rs 8,408 crore. Out of which, 6-Lane Access Controlled Main Carriageway is for highway traffic and 2-Lane Service Road on either side is for rural traffic," Gadkari had tweeted.

Needless to say, the BRS leader has unleashed his propaganda, by misleading the public by putting out misinformation on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway.

Notably, the leader did not have any proof to back his claims of the supposed receipt of kickbacks.

As a video taken from a drone showing next-gen Vande Bharat Express chugging beneath the flyover of the 10-lane highway corridor between Bengaluru and Mysuru presented a breathtaking view, an awestruck Karnataka Chief Minister exclaimed 'What a view! as he shared the video on his Twitter handle.

"What a view! 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway alongside Vande Bharat Express, a visual depicting the story of world-class infrastructure & unprecedented growth in Karnataka. Under PM Modi, our Double Engine government is working wonders in the state," Bommai tweeted.

Retweeting Bommai's tweet, the Prime Minister said, "Our people deserve the best possible infrastructure, which our government will always work hard to provide. Our strides in infra creation have been widely lauded."

The 10-lane corridor is set for inauguration either by the end of this month or March. Once the expressway becomes operational, the 143-km journey from Bengaluru to Mysuru will be possible in just one-and-half hours, making it a convenient and reliable mode of transportation for people and goods.

The expressway has been built to international standards and features a modernand well-marked road network, providing a safe and comfortable journey for all travelers.
