Brother Hires Friend to Rape and Kill Sister in Manesar Over Inter-Community Relationship

A disturbing case of alleged honour killing has emerged from Manesar, where police say a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and murdered after her brother opposed her relationship outside their community.

Two men have been arrested, including the woman's brother, who investigators say planned the crime and enlisted a friend to carry it out.

Relationship opposed by family

Police said the victim and her 28-year-old brother, originally from Etah and Agra, had been living in Manesar for nearly six years. Trouble began after the brother discovered that his sister was in a relationship with a 24-year-old man from another community and wanted to marry him.

According to police, the brother sent her back to their family home in Etah on November 15. However, she returned to Manesar on November 22 and resumed living with her boyfriend, which further angered him.

Plan to lure the woman

Assistant commissioner of police (Manesar) Virender Saini said the brother then devised a plan to kill her. He allegedly asked his 30-year-old friend to help and instructed him to contact the woman under the guise of assisting her to run away and get married.

Trusting the offer, the woman agreed to meet the friend on the night of December 10 near Rampura Chowk. Police said she was then taken away from Manesar instead of being helped.

Assault and murder in Gwalior

Investigators said the accused drove the woman to an isolated location in Gwalior, where he allegedly raped her. When she resisted, she was assaulted and later strangled to death using her scarf. Her body was then hidden under debris in a field, police added.

After the crime, both accused fled to their respective hometowns. In an attempt to divert suspicion, the brother allegedly claimed that the woman's boyfriend was responsible.

Confession and legal action

The boyfriend was briefly detained, but later cleared after investigators established that the brother and his friend were present at the crime scene. Police said the brother eventually confessed during sustained questioning, while the friend admitted to the sexual assault and killing.

An FIR has been registered under sections related to murder, criminal conspiracy and common intention under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Authorities said DNA analysis, a potency test of the accused and post-mortem findings will be used to corroborate the investigation.
