AP wants Telugu workers back from Libya
Hyderabad, July 30: Andhra Pradesh has urged the central government to take necessary steps to bring back Telugu workers stranded in war-torn Libya, said a statement on Wednesday.

NRI Empowerment and Relations Minister P. Raghunath Reddy has written to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to seek immediate steps to help the migrants from the state, urging her to direct Indian embassy officials to provide food, clothing and shelter to the workers and shift them to safe areas before making arrangements to send them back home, said the statement.

While thanking the central minister for her efforts in bringing back safely state workers trapped in Iraq, Reddy drew her attention to media reports about many workers from the state being stranded in the north African country.

He said the migrants were poor, semi-skilled or unskilled and their families back home were worried about their safety. These workers informed their family members that they are left with nothing and facing innumerable hardships.
