BookMyShow Cracks Down On Fake Ticket Scams Ahead Of Coldplay’s India Tour"

British rock band Coldplay has announced a third concert in Mumbai for its Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 due to "phenomenal demand."

This decision comes just hours after fans expressed their frustration over long virtual queues and technical difficulties while trying to secure tickets on the online platform BookMyShow.

BookMyShow Cracks Down On Fake Ticket

Ticketing Struggles and Scalping Alerts

The initial ticket sale for Coldplay's shows on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, at the DY Patil Sports Stadium faced significant challenges, with BookMyShow's website and app struggling to manage the influx of traffic. Many fans encountered server crashes and limited ticket availability, leading to disappointment across social media.

In response to the escalating concerns, BookMyShow issued a fresh statement condemning ticket scalping and distancing itself from unauthorized ticket resellers. The platform noted that tickets were being resold at inflated prices on secondary platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg, where resellers were charging significantly more than the original ticket price.

BookMyShow Takes Action

In a statement released on Tuesday, BookMyShow not only condemned ticket scalping but also urged fans to refrain from purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers. The platform warned that tickets bought from these sources might be counterfeit, leading to financial losses for fans.

"BookMyShow has no association with any ticket selling or reselling platforms such as Viagogo and Gigsberg," the company stated. "Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India. We have filed a complaint with the police authorities and will provide complete support to them in the matter."

A Message to Fans

BookMyShow emphasized the importance of purchasing tickets through official channels, reiterating that any unauthorized tickets are bought at the consumer's own risk. "Beware of such scammers," the company advised, as it remains committed to combating ticket scalping.

Following Coldplay's announcement of additional show dates, the rush for tickets intensified, causing further frustration among fans who reported long waitlists and difficulties accessing the ticketing site. Notably, even prominent figures, including filmmaker Karan Johar, expressed their disappointment at not being able to secure tickets.

As anticipation builds for Coldplay's performances, fans are encouraged to stay vigilant and only purchase tickets through official platforms to avoid falling victim to scams.
