Boeing to showcase its ‘Make In India’ input at Aero India Show
With its proven portfolio of products and services, Boeing could play a major role in boosting ‘Make in India’ mission and to their fair share, they have done quite well on this front through various defence partnership
New Delhi, Feb 9: The Make-in-India mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been at the centre of Aero India Show and DefExpo in the last couple of years. This year too, it is not going to be any different except that not just Indian defence companies but the overseas companies like Boeing too will be showcasing their projects taken up under the 'Make in India' initiative.
US aerospace company Boeing has promised to showcase initiatives that are helping boost the 'Make-in-India' mission of PM Modi. When Salil Gupte, president, Boeing India, says that the Indian aerospace and defence industry are poised for growth and offer significant opportunities, he knows how much Boeing could have in it.

With its proven portfolio of products and services, Boeing could play a major role in boosting 'Make in India' mission and to their fair share, they have done quite well on this front through various defence partnerships. The company already has its 'Research & Technology-India' centre in Bangalore which helps it get a competitive technological edge over others.
Partnering with Indian firms
Boeing for decades has been involved in partnering with Indian defence companies. Its 'Boeing Integrated Defense Systems' is in partnership with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for aerospace manufacturing business in India. Earlier last year, Boeing announced that it was partnering with AIESL for repairing and overhauling of key Indian defence platforms.
The partnership with AIESL is not just repairing, overhauling and maintaining Boeing 777 VIP aircraft used by the Indian Air Force but also offers similar services to the P-8I aircraft fleet which are being used by the Indian Naval forces.
Similarly, Boeing in partnership with Tata announced an aerospace joint venture in India. They are working on the production of aerostructures and pursue integrated systems development opportunities. Their major focus is on producing Apache fuselages.
Boeing at Aero India Show
This year's Aero India Show, scheduled to be held from February 13 to 17 at Bangalore, will witness hundreds of defence companies showcasing their defence products. However, this time Boeing would not just be showcasing its defence products from the US but India as well as part of its 'Make in India' initiatives. A range of products from the F/A-18 Super Hornet, P-8I, CH-47 Chinook, to 737, 787 Dreamliner and 777X will all be showcased at the Aero India Show.
