Mumbai's BMC Gears Up for Grand Ganesh Festivities Idol Immersion with Massive Arrangements

For the upcoming idol immersions marking the end of Ganesh festivities, BMC will be deploying 10,000 staff members and setting up 71 control rooms. They have also arranged safety measures like lifeguards, motorboats and firefighting vehicles at various immersion points.

In line with the grandeur of Ganesh Chaturdashi, famously known as Anant Chaturdashi, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken extensive measures to ensure a smooth and safe immersion process. The last day of Ganesh festivities witnesses large-scale idol immersions across Mumbai and in an effort to manage this massive event, BMC will deploy 10,000 staffers and establish 71 control rooms throughout the city.

Preparations for Idol Immersion

Ganesh Festivities Immersion

The civic body has identified a total of 267 immersion spots which include 198 artificial and 69 natural locations that will be used for the immersion process. In order to prevent any inconvenience caused due to sandy beaches during transportation of idols, BMC has strategically placed around 468 steel plates at chowpatties beaches. This would ensure that vehicles carrying Ganapati idols do not get stuck in the sand.

Safety Measures

To further facilitate smooth conductance of this religious event, it is reported that about 46 German rafts have been deployed for immersion of larger idols. A significant emphasis is being laid on ensuring safety during this process; hence, a team comprising of 764 lifeguards along with 48 motorboats have been stationed at various immersion sites across Mumbai.

Waste Management Initiatives

With respect to waste management post-immersion activities, BMC stated that they have arranged for approximately150 nirmalya kalash waste collection bins along with deployment of about282 vehicles specifically meant for collecting floral offerings and other forms of waste generated from these ceremonies.

Fostering Efficient Coordination

BMC also highlighted its efforts towards fostering efficient coordination among its different departments. As part of these initiatives, it has established around188 control rooms at the administrative wards levels. Additionally, around 60 inspection towers have been erected to ensure safety and quick response during any emergencies. Trained personnel along with fire-fighting vehicles have also been stationed at various immersion points.

Additional Facilities

The BMC has also set up about 68 welcome posts at various locations across Mumbai to assist citizens participating in the festivities. Furthermore, it is reported that about 75 first aid centers will be available throughout the city to tackle any health-related emergencies during this event.

In conclusion, these extensive measures taken by BMC reflect its commitment towards ensuring a safe and smooth conductance of Ganesh Chaturdashi. The deployment of such large-scale resources not only promises efficient management but also ensures that religious sentiments are respected while maintaining public safety and cleanliness in the city.
