Blame church leaders not RSS or BJP for conversions, says Archbishop
Kottayam, Jan 6: Archbishop of Anglican Church of India Stephen Vattapara said conversions take place continuously and it might have intensified after Narendra Modi became the prime minister. He said neither the BJP nor the RSS should be blamed for the recent conversions.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle in an interview at his residence in Kurichi near Kottayam, Vattapara slammed the churches saying their leaders had no moral right to criticise the re-conversions since they failed to rehabilitate the converts.
"If the community members were shown due consideration, they wouldn't have reconverted to Hinduism. Since they failed to get help, they have gone back to Hinduism... They left us since we lacked the capacity to provide them the required financial assistance," Deccan Chronicle quoted the Archbishop as saying.
The Archbishop denied reports that many of his Church members had reconverted to Hinduism.
