Black-marketing takes a surge in riot-hit Trilokpuri; Eggs cost Rs 10/piece, Rs 100/lit milk

Riot-hit Trilokpuri starved
Trilokpuri, Oct 27: Riots in the Trilokpuri region of New Delhi has not affected the lives of the people alone, but has also changed their lifestyles. After a curfew was declared on Diwali due to clash between two communities, prices of essential commodities doubled overnight.

A resident added,"Eggs are selling for Rs. 10 per piece, which usually costs us Rs. 4. A half-litre packet of milk worth Rs. 24 is being sold for upto Rs. 50." Incidentally, the police have restricted the movement of the people and have arrested close to 40 people for the same. So, residents have to be at the mercy of local shopkeepers.

Taking this in their stride, shopkeepers down their shutters and sell goods from the backdoor ata high price. Some complain that they had to temporarily relocate to a different place to avoid the situation.
