BJP To Release First List Of Candidates For Lok Sabha Polls Today: Whose Names Are Likely To Feature?

After the BJP's Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Thursday, the saffron party will reportedly release the first list of its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections today.

The Thursday night meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh among others.

Leaders from various states, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Gujarat's Bhupendra Patel, Madhya Pradesh's Mohan Yadav, Chhattisgarh's Vishnu Deo Sai, Uttarakhand's Pushkar Singh Dhami and Goa's Pramod Sawant, were among those who arrived at the BJP headquarters for the meeting.

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari were also part of the meeting.

    How Many Names The BJP Reveal In First List?
    As per the reports, the BJP has planned to release the names of 150 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls.

    The names in the first list will be a combination of seats where the ruling party is strongly placed and from the seats that aim to win.The BJP's candidate lists often draw attention for both the new faces they introduce and the notable figures they leave out. People are eager to see if the party will exclude some well-known names or try new approaches in selecting its nominees. Shah and Nadda, along with other party leaders, have held numerous meetings with state leaders to create lists of potential candidates, which will ultimately be approved by the CEC.

    Prime Minister Modi (Varanasi), Amit Shah (Gandhinagar), defence minister Rajnath Singh (Lucknow), transport minister Nitin Gadkari (Nagpur), Parvesh Verma (West Delhi), Manoj Tiwari (North West Delhi) and Ramesh Bidhuri (South Delhi), Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupendra Yadav, Piyush Goyal, Mansukh Mandaviya, Parshottam Rupala and Rajeev Chandrasekhar are likely to figure in the first list.
