BJP Slams Congress: ‘Mohabbat Ki Dukaan Always Open For China’ Over Controversial Map - WATCH Viral Post
BJP Accuses Congress Of Distorting India's Map: A major political controversy erupted in Karnataka on Thursday as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Congress of misrepresenting India's map on posters displayed to mark the centenary of the 1924 Congress session in Belagavi.
The posters, which were part of the Congress party's commemoration of the historic event, have sparked allegations from the BJP and its ally, Janata Dal (Secular), of distorting the map by omitting critical regions, as reported by Hindustan Times.

BJP Accuses Congress Of Distorting India's Map
The controversy centres around the map displayed on the Congress posters, which allegedly failed to depict the regions of Gilgit and Aksai Chin-both of which are part of Jammu and Kashmir and are currently under Pakistan and Chinese occupation, respectively. The BJP claimed that this omission represents a deliberate attempt to downplay India's territorial integrity for political purposes.
The BJP took to social media, accusing the Congress of disrespecting the nation's sovereignty. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the party hit out at Congress, saying, "RaGa's Mohabbat ki Dukaan is always open for China! They would break the nation. They've done it once. They'll do it again." The statement targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and suggested that the party was compromising national unity for political gain.
BJP's Criticism: Vote Bank Politics
The BJP further criticized Congress for what it described as "vote bank politics," alleging that the misrepresentation of the map was a calculated move to appease certain sections of the electorate. The party demanded that action be taken against the organizers of the event for violating the nation's territorial boundaries.
Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, a prominent BJP leader, called for the police to register a case against the event organizers. He argued that under Section 74 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), displaying an incorrect map of India is a criminal offense, and it also violates the National Honour Act. "This is how the Congress celebrates its historic CWC session by distorting the map of India, not showing PoK as part of Indian territory. Shame on @INCKarnataka," he wrote.
JD(S) Joins in Criticism
The controversy was further amplified by the Janata Dal (Secular), which joined the BJP in condemning the distortion of the map. The JD(S) labelled the omission of Kashmir as part of India's territory a "serious criminal act," comparing it to treason. The party called for a strict investigation into the matter, emphasizing the gravity of the map's alteration, as reported by Hindustan Times.
Congress Responds: Clarification and Removal
In response to the uproar, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also serves as the state Congress president, clarified that the party would remove the posters if there had been an error. He dismissed the criticism, stating that the political opponents were trying to create an issue out of a minor mistake. "Some leaders might have made some mistake, we are removing everything. Don't try to pick a small stone in the curd... We have done according to Indian tradition and values of those days... BJP is there to attack us, they can't digest. There is no medicine for jealousy," Shivakumar said.
The Political Fallout
Despite the clarification from the Congress, the controversy remains a hot topic in Karnataka politics. The BJP has continued to press for action, while Congress defends its intentions, insisting that there was no malice involved. This incident has ignited a fierce political debate about the representation of India's territorial boundaries in public campaigns and the role of political parties in ensuring the accurate portrayal of national symbols, as per media reports.
As the issue unfolds, both parties are preparing for further political ramifications, with the BJP calling for stricter scrutiny of such matters in the future and the Congress attempting to downplay the controversy.
