BJP Reacts Strongly To Mamata’s ‘Delhi Will Burn’ Comment—Sukanta Appeals For Amit Shah’s Response

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued a stern warning amid the escalating tensions over the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor in West Bengal. She stated, "Remember if Bengal is burned, then Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also be burned." This comment has sparked significant backlash from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Union minister and Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar criticised Banerjee's remarks, calling for her resignation. He argued that such "anti-national comments" are unbecoming of someone in a constitutional position. Majumdar also wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing Banerjee of inciting violence in Kolkata.

BJP Demands Resignation

Majumdar's letter to Amit Shah read: "CM Mamata Banerjee during her address to the Student Wing of TMC today in Kolkata shamelessly incited gathering, declaring, 'I never sought revenge, but now, do what needs to be done.' This is nothing less than a blatant endorsement of revenge politics from the highest office in the state." He urged Shah to take appropriate actions to uphold law and order.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded strongly to Banerjee's warning about potential unrest spreading beyond Bengal. He said, "Didi, how dare you threaten Assam? Don't show us red eyes. Don't even try to burn India with your politics of failure. It does not befit you to speak divisive language."

Banerjee's comments have intensified criticism over her handling of the situation in Bengal. Opposition parties accuse her of failing to maintain law and order amid the ongoing crisis.

Mamata Banerjee's Legislative Response

In response to the outcry over the rape and murder case, Mamata Banerjee announced plans for new anti-rape legislation. She stated that her party would pass a bill enabling capital punishment for rapists within seven days of the crime.

"We will pass a bill on anti-rape laws that would secure capital punishment for the rapist within seven days of the crime," she said. She also warned of protests if the Governor did not pass this bill.

Banerjee added, "Next week, we will call an Assembly session and pass the bill within 10 days. We will send this bill to the Governor (CV Ananda Bose). If he doesn't pass it, we will sit outside Raj Bhavan. This bill must be passed and he cannot evade accountability this time."

BJP's Criticism Intensifies

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya launched an attack on Banerjee via social media. He tweeted: "A cornered Mamata Banerjee has declared war on the people of West Bengal, who are holding her to account in the brutal rape and murder of a young lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital. The deceased could have been our sister or daughter but Mamata wants more blood."

Malviya further criticised Banerjee by highlighting her shift in stance: "Once a proponent of the 'Bodol noy, Bodla Chai' mantra, Mamata Banerjee now brazenly shifted her stance, openly calling for the very vengeance she once purported to abhor."

The situation remains tense as political leaders continue their verbal sparring over this tragic incident. The public awaits further developments regarding both legislative measures and political accountability.
