BJP on Akhilesh's 'donkey' jibe: 'He is frustrated, depressed'

Akhilesh had earlier urged Amitabh Bachchan to not promote 'donkeys of Gujarat'.

Irked by Akhilesh Yadav's remark asking Amitabh Bachchan to not promote 'donkeys', Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday said such statements reflect 'depression and frustration' on part of the Uttar Pradesh chief minister.

In a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bachchan, Akhilesh had urged the bollywood star to not promote 'donkeys of Gujarat'.

"Ek gadhe ka vigyapan aata hai, main iss sadi ke sabse bade mahanayak se kahunge ke ab aap Gujarat ke gadhon ka prachar mat kariye (There is one advertisement of donkeys. I urge the greatest actor of the generation to not promote donkeys of Gujarat)," Akhilesh had said at a rally in UP.

Bachchan has been the brand ambassador of Gujarat tourism for a long period of time. He appears in an advertisement promoting Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary in Little Rann of Kutch in the Gujarat. Gujarat is also home state of Modi, so in a way he is asking Bachchan to not support the PM .

Third of the seven phase elections in UP concluded on Sunday in which 61 percent polling was recorded. 69 constituencies went to the polls in this phase which is considered crucial for SP.
