BJP MP Files Complaint With Anti-Corruption Watchdog, Seeks Probe Into Mahua Moitra
After making allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, claiming she received "cash and gifts" from a businessman in exchange for raising questions in Parliament, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has taken further steps seeking action against her.
Today, 21st October, Nishikant Dubey moved to the Lokpal, the anti-corruption authority, to request action against Mahua Moitra in the "cash-for-query" controversy. He stated, "Filed a complaint with Lokpal today. Only Lokpal looks after the corruption of MPs and Ministers, CBI is its medium," in a Hindi-language post.

Prior to this, Nishikant Dubey had called upon Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to establish an "inquiry committee" to investigate the allegations against Moitra. He also demanded her immediate suspension from the House.
In response to Dubey's accusations, Moitra vehemently denied them, describing them as "defamatory, false, baseless, and unsupported by any evidence."
In a letter addressed to the Speaker, Dubey asserted that out of the 61 questions Moitra had raised in Parliament, 50 had focused on the Adani Group. He alleged a potential "criminal conspiracy" orchestrated by Mahua Moitra to advance the business interests of businessman Darshan Hiranandani by posing Parliamentary questions, drawing parallels to the 'Cash for Query' incident of 12th December, 2005.
In turn, Mahua Moitra sent a legal notice to Nishikant Dubey and advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai regarding these "defamatory" allegations. She accused both Dubey and Dehadrai of tarnishing her reputation and goodwill as part of a personal and political vendetta.
