BJP Leader Sambit Patra Shares Official Document Referring To PM Modi as 'Prime Minister of Bharat'
Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Sambit Patra posted an image on social media platform X that referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as 'The Prime Minister Of Bharat.' This image pertained to Modi's participation in the 20th ASEAN-India Summit and 18th EAS Summit in Indonesia on September 7. Patra's post came amid speculation about the government introducing legislation in the upcoming special parliamentary session to rename India as Bharat.
Earlier in the day, the Congress and other opposition parties raised concerns about the G20 dinner invitation from Rashtrapati Bhawan, which had 'President of Bharat' instead of 'President of India' written on it.

In response, the BJP welcomed the move and criticized the opposition bloc I.N.D.I.A for being resistant to the use of 'Bharat.'
Union Minister Anurag Thakur remarked, "Who is opposing the name Bharat? Now, do you even feel discomfort at the mention of Bharat? These are the same people who prioritize party over the nation and are mired in political quagmires. They have also attempted to defame the country from foreign soil," as reported by PTI.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused the opposition of attempting to erase the name 'Bharat' and the Hindu religion. He stated, "Bharat is as ancient as the sun and the moon. As long as the sun and the moon exist, Bharat will endure... Every state and its people desire that the country be known as Bharat," Sarma emphasized.
Constitutional expert PDT Achary informed PTI that any change in the country's name from the Republic of India would necessitate multiple constitutional amendments. He mentioned, "They will have to amend the Constitution. Article 1 will have to be changed, and then there will be consequential changes in all the other articles."
He also noted, "Wherever India is used, it will have to be replaced. There can be only one name for the country. Two interchangeable names will create a great deal of confusion, not only in India but also abroad."
