He claims these materials are damaging his reputation. Gautam, who oversees party affairs in Uttarakhand, made this appeal in a letter addressed to Uttarakhand Home Secretary Shailesh Bagoli.

Gautam's letter also included a list of social media and news channels he accused of spreading false allegations against him. He urged authorities to instruct these platforms to delete such content and prevent its further spread. "I request you to instruct the social media platforms and news channels involved to remove such material and prevent the dissemination of such material directly or indirectly," he wrote.

Allegations and Reactions

The controversy began with a viral video and an alleged audio clip involving a woman named Urmila Sanawar. She claims to be the wife of former MLA Suresh Rathore from Haridwar's Jwalapur. In the video, Sanawar accuses a person named Gattu of being involved in Ankita Bhandari's murder. Bhandari, a resort receptionist, was killed in 2022 by her employer after refusing sexual advances.

The BJP has responded by questioning Sanawar's credibility, describing her as someone engaged in questionable activities. Meanwhile, Suresh Rathore dismissed the video as being generated by artificial intelligence. The party is facing pressure due to these allegations.

Calls for Investigation

The Congress party has demanded a CBI investigation into these new allegations. They want the inquiry to be overseen by a sitting or retired Supreme Court judge. This demand comes amid growing calls for transparency and accountability in the case.

Gautam believes that these accusations are part of a criminal conspiracy against him. He stated that some individuals have fabricated an audio recording and are spreading harmful and false information about him on various media platforms. "Recently, it has come to my knowledge that under a criminal conspiracy, some unscrupulous criminal elements have created a fake and fabricated audio recording, and to further this, they are circulating such hateful, malicious, and false material on media and social media," he said.

The situation continues to evolve as both political parties navigate the fallout from these serious allegations. The focus remains on ensuring justice for Ankita Bhandari while addressing any misinformation circulating online.
