BJP Leader Posts Sarcastic Congratulatory Message After K Kavitha's Bail In Liquor Policy Case; KTR Hits Back

A senior BJP leader's sarcastic post about the Supreme Court's bail relief to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha has sparked a sharp response from her brother, KT Rama Rao (KTR). The top court granted conditional bail to K Kavitha, five months after her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate over alleged irregularities in Delhi's now-scrapped liquor policy.

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar took a swipe at the Congress party and its advocates for securing bail for BRS MLC in the liquor scam. He posted on X, "Congratulations to the Congress party and its advocates for securing bail for BRS MLC in the infamous liquor Scam. Your untiring efforts finally yielded fruits." He added that this bail is a win for both BRS and Congress.

BJP Leader's Allegations

While not naming anyone directly, it was evident that Bandi Sanjay Kumar referred to Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi, who defended Ms Kavitha in court and has now filed a nomination for a Rajya Sabha seat from Telangana. The BJP leader also remarked on KCR's political strategy, suggesting an understanding between BRS and Congress.

"Remarkable political acumen by KCR in supporting the candidate, who initially argued for the bail, to be nominated to Rajya Sabha unopposed by the ruling Congress. Congratulations to the partners in crime who wine & dine," he added.

KTR's Response

KTR responded sharply, calling Bandi Sanjay Kumar's post "highly unbecoming" of his position as a Union Minister. He urged the Supreme Court to take note of these remarks and initiate contempt proceedings. "You're a union minister in charge of Home Affairs & casting aspersions on Supreme Court!! Highly unbecoming of your position," KTR said in his reply.

He continued, "I respectfully urge the Hon'ble Chief Justice of India & the respected Supreme Court to take cognisance of these comments and initiate contempt proceedings."

Congress Sees A BJP Link

Amidst these allegations, Telangana Congress chief Mahesh Kumar Goud claimed that the bail relief to K Kavitha indicates a process for BRS' merger with BJP has started. He alleged that BRS leaders KTR and T Harish Rao spoke with BJP leaders in Delhi and that the Enforcement Directorate helped Ms Kavitha get bail.

"When you delve deep into the reasons for Kavitha getting bail now, it becomes clear that the process for BRS' merger with BJP has commenced," he said. He added that both parties have come together to create problems for Revanth Reddy's government in Telangana.

Bandi Sanjay Kumar has previously accused an understanding between BRS and Congress regarding Mr Singhvi's entry into Rajya Sabha. He claimed that despite having 39 votes, BRS did not file any nominations because they plan to merge with Congress soon.

"KCR has reached an understanding with Congress. Only after this did Congress nominate Kavitha's lawyer for Rajya Sabha. Despite having 39 votes, BRS has not filed any nominations. The party is going to merge with Congress soon. Both are family-oriented parties and corrupt too," he stated earlier this month.
