The BJPs Jammu and Kashmir unit held a convention, emphasizing their position against talks with Pakistan and demanding accountability for the exodus of minorities. They welcomed the Supreme Courts verdict on Article 370 and set their sights on securing an absolute majority in the Legislative Assembly.

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit organized a one-day convention of office-bearers on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in Jammu. The convention witnessed significant resolutions passed by the party, including a firm stance against talks with Pakistan and a demand for identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the exodus of minorities from Kashmir.

BJPs Jammu and Kashmir Convention: Resolute Actions and Political Aspirations

No Talks with Pakistan, Prosecution for Exodus Culprits

The BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit unequivocally resolved that there should be no negotiations or talks with Pakistan or its agents, including individuals or organizations supporting separatism in the region. The party emphasized that terrorism and talks cannot coexist, and it will strive for an absolute majority in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, aiming to have a chief minister from the party.

Furthermore, the resolution demanded that those responsible for the exodus of minorities from Kashmir in 1989-90 be identified and brought to justice. The party expressed its commitment to instilling confidence and peace among the masses, promoting nationalistic spirit, and combating terrorism and separatist elements.

Addressing Terrorism and Pakistan's Destabilizing Efforts

The BJP acknowledged that while normalcy is gradually returning to Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan continues to destabilize the Union Territory through subversive activities and terrorism. The recent surge in terror activities in Rajouri and Poonch districts was highlighted as a reflection of Pakistan's hostile intentions.

The party pledged to stand firmly with the armed forces in their efforts to eradicate terrorism from the region and thwart Pakistan's nefarious designs. While supporting necessary measures to curb terrorism, the BJP also resolved to reach out to the people and win their hearts and minds.

Supreme Court Verdict on Article 370 Hailed

The BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit hailed the Supreme Court's verdict upholding the abrogation of Article 370, describing it as a landmark decision that puts a stamp of finality and paves the way for strengthening the nation. The resolution highlighted the significance of the abrogation as a watershed moment in India's history, undoing the "Nehruvian Himalayan blunder" and fulfilling the country's quest for "Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan -- Ek Bharat" (One Symbol, One Constitution, One Prime Minister -- One India).

The party asserted that the Supreme Court's verdict reinforces the nation's resolve to bring new hope and rejuvenated aspirations to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It emphasized the end of exploitative politics and the devolution of equitable rights to all, irrespective of caste, creed, gender, religion, region, or sub-region. The resolution envisioned a "Naya Jammu Kashmir" – a better, brighter, prosperous, and peaceful region where all can live in harmony and unity, free from discrimination.

Conclusion

The BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit's convention reflected the party's unwavering commitment to addressing key issues affecting the region. By demanding action against those responsible for the exodus of minorities, taking a strong stance against talks with Pakistan, and supporting the Supreme Court's verdict on Article 370, the party outlined its vision for a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
