Stalin's Podcast Takes Aim At BJP's Religious Rhetoric
In his podcast, titled "Speaking for India," Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of exploiting religion to cover-up for their shortcomings.
Stalin asserted that the BJP has embraced "religion as their weapon" to divert attention from their failures. He contended that they are deliberately stoking religious sentiments while undermining India's structure and unity.

Stalin also expressed his intention to speak up for India through his podcast. "I, Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, the leader of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the third-largest party in the Indian Parliament, and most importantly, as someone who is one among you, want to speak for India."
BJP's Failed Promises and Divisive Tactics
Stalin further criticised the BJP for failing to fulfill their pre-election promises, including guaranteed employment for 2 crore people annually and doubling farmers' incomes, particularly in terms of welfare schemes. He points out that almost a decade of BJP governance has seen none of these promises come to fruition.
Stalin characterised the BJP as a directionless model and predicted that the 'Narendra Modi Model' would fade away without leaving a significant legacy. He alleged that the party is using its power to benefit corporate allies at the expense of the public sector.
Moreover, he expresses disappointment in how the BJP is using religion as a divisive tool to divert attention from its shortcomings. Stalin accuses the BJP of inciting religious sentiments and promoting communalism, citing examples of violence in Gujarat, Manipur, and Haryana.
The Role of DMK in Protecting India's Diversity
Highlighting the historical role of his party, Stalin asserted that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has always been at the forefront of safeguarding India's diversity, federalism, and democracy. He recalled Perarignar Anna's declaration in the Council of States that the DMK should be the spearhead against the unitary nature. Stalin underlines how the DMK has consistently advocated for India's unity.
Stalin also mentioned the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, stating that it is crucial to decide who should not come to power, rather than focusing solely on who should come to power.
While Stalin expressed confidence in the INDIA alliance, Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised the coalition for a remark made by CM's son, Udhayanidhi, regarding Hinduism. Shah claimed that the Opposition bloc "hates Hinduism."
Stalin's podcast followed a controversy sparked by Udhayanidhi's comments about "eradicating Sanatan Dharma," which sparked a row.
In his podcast, Stalin addressed various issues, including alleged scams during the BJP's 9-year rule, the impact of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on states, and the loss of financial autonomy in Tamil Nadu due to central policies. He highlighted the disparity in fund allocation between BJP-ruled states and others.
I.N.D.I.A Alliance: A Path to Restore India's Values
Stalin concluded by advocating for an India where values like social justice, secular politics, socialism, equity, social harmony, state autonomy, federalism, and unity in diversity thrive. He declared that the INDIA alliance aims to restore such a nation and save India from divisive forces. He also drew attention to ethnic conflicts in Manipur and Haryana, emphasizing the importance of addressing such issues to protect the nation's cultural and religious diversity.
A Call to Action
Stalin urges citizens to join the movement, emphasizing that the podcast "Speaking for India" represents not only his voice but the collective voice of the nation. He envisions an India where these values thrive and calls on everyone to "Let INDIA be the real winner!"
